I Work in Public (Short) A man (and his desk) provide an on-the-street view of the economic crisis when Julian opens for business as an 'open air administrative assistant' on the sidewalk in Toronto's business district. Asbury Park (Student) A young man, Colin, returns to his hometown of Asbury Park, New Jersey and, much like the town itself, is at rock bottom. He is seeking redemption and forgiveness from his mother and brother, while also trying to reconnect with the town he has called home for his entire life. Lick (Feature) A fifty-something aspiring filmmaker. A twenty-something scientist. A teen-something boy with ADHD. All want to know...how many licks does it take? |
The Room: The Chosen (Short) Four people. Locked in four different rooms. $20,000. Questions slid under their doors. Alyson, Sandra, Teddy, and Ethan must answer truthfully if they want to get out. The Room knows all, and leads them to a touchy subject. Jimmy. The dead brother, husband, lover, best friend. Behind the smiles and pretty faces, the tension rises. Some faces drop. Doors are pounded. Tears are shed. And finally secrets are revealed … or perhaps not? Can The Room be tricked? Who killed Jimmy Matthews? Not Evelyn Cho (Short) A misdelivered package inspires a lonely woman to try and snag the hunky and charming delivery man. Cesar’s World (Short) Cesar has a very innocent crush on his teacher, who in turn has a very adult interest in The Principal–proving again that love can be a complex mystical abstraction. Starlight and Superfish (Feature) Starlight and Superfish is the story of Nick, who wakes up trapped in his apartment. A glam-rock band bursts in on him to explain that he is now in purgatory. With the help of his rock and roll guides he must pass through all of the lessons he neglected to learn while he was alive. |

| 3-Iron (Student) In this dark comedy, Frank is a meek, passive man who gets no respect from his wife and his overactive, borderline-violent 8 year-old son, over whom he has no control. His escape is golf, but this Saturday his routine is interrupted when he accidentally discovers his wife's affair with a sweaty neighbor. For the first time in his life, he reacts in an aggressive way, unintentionally gaining his son’s attention and admiration in the process . True Beauty This Night (Short) Last night Rhett Somers, so far scraping by on good luck or just plain old ignorance, met the love of his life. He's sure of it. She doesn't know. Now the only thing left to do is convince her that she's the one. Not an easy feat considering how they met. Alex and the Ghosts (Short) Alex and the Ghosts is a short animated film about a seven year old boy who dreams of going to a hockey game with his father to see his favorite team play, the Montreal Canadiens. Windigo Tale (Aboriginal) A Native American grandfather drives north accompanied by his grandson, a youth-at-risk, who comes to learn about the dark secrets of his family and community. Taking its inspiration from Ojibway spirituality and from the history of the residential school system, where generations of children were forcibly taken from their families and aggressively assimilated into Euro-Canadian society, A Windigo Tale is both a chilling and redeeming drama. |
Awakening from Sorrow (Documentary) This 40-minute documentary is about a crucial moment in history when the sorrow of young Argentines–whose parents disappeared, and then were tortured and killed during the 'Dirty War'–is erupting into public action, and becomes a cornerstone for people’s movements all over South America, even as far away as Serbia. A Gum’s Life (Student) Stop-motion animation combined with live action tells 'a day in the life' of a piece of chewing gum. Sofia (Short) In his final moments, Joseph, an old reclusive painter, has a dream where he wanders through many memories. Over the course of his nostalgic odyssey, Joseph encounters many people including his professor, late wife and his mother Sofia–a ballerina whose solitary dancing he remembers having watched as a child. The Whale and the Dog (Short) A four-minute short animated tale of love and adventure. Remix to Rio (Documentary) Remix-to-Rio follows youth outreach project co-founders Gavin and Drex as they travel to Rio De Janeiro and join forces with Sandro, an Ex-drug lord turned activist in hopes of constructing a recording studio for disadvantaged youth in the Favela known as “The Enchanted Land.” |

Clemency (Short) Arthur Poe is a sadistic killer who likes to torture his victims. Years later and days before his execution, the newly elected governor grants Poe clemency based on the testimony of a forensic psychologist at Poe’s murder trial. A reporter confronts Poe in an interview seeking to shed light on the emotionally charged topic. What she learns can never be forgotten. Waiting for the Tall Man (Short) An old British hood sits in his apartment awaiting a mysterious killer nicknamed ‘The Tall Man’ who has been sent to finish him off. As he waits for this executioner to arrive, he contemplates his past transgressions in an attempt to ultimately decide his own fate. Hugs and Bruises (Short) Roller derby is back! Drastically different from the roller derby that our parents and grandparents used to watch, this generation of roller derby is far more raw, in-your-face, and will knock you out of your seat! Sounds Like a Revolution (Documentary) Sounds Like a Revolution is a pro-active and energizing documentary about a new generation of activist musicians who are living proof that music is an important and powerful tool in the ongoing struggle for social change. From the Dixie Chicks to Michael Franti to the punk band Anti-Flag, artists across the musical spectrum recount their motivations and struggles in a post-9/11 environment where dissent has been silenced and censorship was commonplace. |
Pamplemousse (Short) After wishing he could speak French overnight to pass a French class, an American college student gets his wish, but with the cost of being unable to speak English. Resume (Short) As a recent college graduate prepares his resume for the real world, a devastating nuclear explosion leaves society in crumbles. He must now endure the job hunt in a post apocalyptic world. As the young graduate migrates between ridiculous jobs, he updates his resume by hand. Through the trials he faces, hope is gradually lost and the only copy of his resume degrades proportionately. L'héritage des trappistes d'Oka (Documentary) Having been established in their magnificent abbey at Oka, Quebec for over 125 years, the Trappist monks now prepare to leave. Before their departure, they have agreed to be filmed in their daily rituals. The camera follows them to the orchard, wine cellar and gardens, through the light and shadows of long hallways, to prayers in the chapel and total silence of monastic cellars. In visually stunning scenes and candid interviews, we discover the story of these farmer monks, men of science and education. See landmarks from the first days of photography transform to full-colour modern day. Some things change, some things stay the same. Experience history. Tea Master (Short) An Elderly Man crosses paths with a rogue Samurai who challenges him to a duel after discovering the Elderly Man is in possession of an Imperial Sword. Cangeleska Wakan (Aboriginal) Cangleska Wakan addresses the 'The Sacred Hoop' of the Lakota Sioux. Filmed on various reservations in South Dakota, candid, personal opinions are revealed along with historical re-enactments making Cangleska Wakan a deeply profound and moving documentary film with contributions from Russell Means, Chief Arvol Looking Horse and others. Promised Land (documentary) Promised Land examines post-apartheid South Africa's efforts to bring about racial reconciliation through land redistribution. The film follows two black communities that are trying to get back land they say their ancestors were removed from during apartheid. The land is currently owned by white landowners and the film follows the mutli-year efforts of both groups to get, and keep, possession of the land. Through these two stories, the epic battle over race and land is played out with very real consequences for all sides. |
1150 km et une métisse (Aboriginal) Max is a man who's lost his way, a lost soul. Mady is a young aboriginal runaway. Their two destinies collide in a parking lot in downtown Montreal–an unlikely meeting that will lead to a surprising proposal. Max offers to escort Mady to her home, a native reserve on Quebec's North shore some 1150 kilometers from Montreal. He desperately needs to ride, to forget himself. Mady just wants to return home. While the road scrolls quickly before them, a silent complicity builds up between these two mysterious beings. The Empress (Short) Loneliness, desire, love, hesitation, miscommunication, fear, and loss with a touch of alcoholism for comic relief. Inspired by the song ‘The Empress' by the Montreal band BRIGA, this film is about the first hesitant motions of meeting and the fragility of falling in love. Montag (Student) A seeing-eye dog who dislikes his job discovers himself through his dark past. Sleep Buddy (short) Dumped and heartbroken, Steven can't sleep alone. He needs to spoon! Out of options, he posts a classified ad on the Internet, 'Wanted: Sleep Buddy.' Over the course of several sleepless nights, Steven welcomes strangers into his bed in the bleary-eyed hope that someone will have the magical cure that gives him the peace he needs. Le divan du monde (feature) Zoe, a young Acadian woman, decides to head home to her mother in Prince Edward Island after a failed relationship on the West Coast. Out of money, she decides to hitchhike, relying on the kindness of strangers to carry her across the country. The first person to offer her a couch to sleep on is Alex, a musically gifted francophone who moved to Vancouver a few years ago to work for a software company. Alex decides to leave his job and follow Zoe. From one couch to the next, from one city to the next, they learn to trust and draw strength from one another giving new meaning to their lives. |

| In Their Shoes: The Experience Dan Losier sees what its like to be homeless in Brantford for 72 hrs. During the experience, he is forced to rely on the services of 'soup kitchens', attempts to pan handle to feed himself and must seek shelter from the cold of the outdoors. Brantford and Me Brantford and Me is the story of an economy that once thrived before the farming implement industry collapsed in the 1980s. This documentary explores what happened to the workers who lost their jobs during this economic crisis, how the city attempted to recover, and what the future may hold for the city's economy. Too Old & Fat to Strip: A Portrait of Contessa (WARNING: EXPLICIT CONTENT) When 52 year-old adult entertainer Shirley Zegil (a.k.a. Contessa) was fired from a Brantford strip club for being too old and too fat, she took her case to the Ontario Human Rights Commission.
